RCB v KXIP 2018: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Bold Performance At The Fortress

Though RCB team entered the RCB v KXIP 2018 match with a point short initially as they were playing against Kings XI Punjab, who convincingly won their previous match against Delhi Daredevils but the crowd at M. Chinnaswamy stadium made sure that they won’t be short of support at any cost. This is the reason why they managed to register their 1st win in IPL 2018 by beating the Kings of Punjab by 4 wickets.

There was a huge roar from RCB‘s 12th man – their fans, right from the moment Captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first (which has been the tradition in IPL 11 so far). After putting in to bat first, the visitors were off to a flyer due to the dominating batting from the home boy – KL Rahul.

Just when things seems to be going out of the hands, Umesh Yadav took the control and teared the KXIP batting apart with his fiery deliveries. He bagged 3 wickets in the 4th over which included the veterans like Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh, which proved as effective as a disc-brake to the flawless innings of Kings XI Punjab.

No Kings XI Punjab batsman seemed to be comfortable in front of RCB‘s bowling in the RCB v KXIP 2018 IPL match and this is the reason why they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s disciplined bowling rewarded wickets to every single bowler of their line-up. Kings XI Punjab‘s innings were wrapped up at the score of 155 runs with 3 balls to spare.

Though the target of 156 runs seemed to be easily achievable at M. Chinnasway Stadium, the visitors had other plans in their mind. They made this run-chase a rather interesting ones by picking 2 crucial wickets in the power-play which included Brendon McCullum and Virat Kohli.

Just when things were getting tougher for Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Proteas duo took the responsibility on their backs and steadied the ship for RCB. When RCB were cruising towards the victory, R. Ashwin showed his magic with the ball and bagged couple of wickets on consecutive deliveries which included the set batsman – Quinton de Kock as well.

With over 60 runs to get, AB de Villiers and Mandeep Singh kept their calm and tried guiding RCB as closer as they can towards the target. The pressure was rising on the batsmen after few good overs coming from the KXIP but this is when evergreen AB de Villers showed his magic and brought the RCB v KXIP 2018 IPL match in their favor.

AB de Villiers was looking all set to finish off the match but Andrew Tye managed to send him back to the pavilion in the 18th over which assured this match to go down the wire. With 5 runs to win in the final over, Washington Sundar made sure that there won’t be anymore drama in this thrilling match and helped RCB register their 1st win of the season over Kings XI Punjab by 4 wickets.
